Autumn

First post in a while, and it won't be epiphanous... "Yesterday felt like autumn"

That's it... that is what has inspired me to break my fasting of xanga.  I love autumn!  The natural world getting sleepy and preparing for its rest.  The temperature drops and you start putting on jackets... you start to faintly see your breath when you exhale... the leaves change color... its great.

I am from upstate New York, and anyone who has witnessed a New England autumn will agree that it is a thing of beauty.  The number of colors that you see and the intensity and vibrancy is breath taking.  Drive through the mountains under a tunnel of maple trees lining both sides of the road, and suddenly come out on a view of some sprawling valley full of color... natural color better than any artist can imagine.  New England autumn is as if God has chosen one place on the earth to set up his easel and show his majesty.  This is one of  my favourite rememberances of why I worship such an awesome God.

Yes yes, I know how this sounds, but it is something that I love.  I haven't been home for a New England autumn in about 11 years.  Its really weird to think that, but for some reason its always autumn that makes me stop to think about just how long its been since I really lived at home.  Its been 11 years since my last birthday at home, Easter is 11, Thanksgiving 11, Christmas is 6 years.... What is it about autumn that causes people to think and remember?

Here is a question:  So, autumn is my favorite season out of the year.  While everyone can agree that we are glad to see summer come, people usually split both ways on whether they like autumn or spring.  I wonder if it says anything about a person as to whether they like spring or autumn better.  So the question would be, "which do you like better, spring or autumn... and why?".  Alright, that's it... I'm done... have a good day all

definately New England autumns are my favorite.  I like the way I ponder life more and become more introspective.  I love the smells, and sounds.  I love the slight moisture in the air, but the crispness of the wind.  I love watching the leaves  fly onto the side of the road as you are swerving around turns.

You're the best man.  We have so many times good ahead of us, I can't wait.  I can feel an adventure on the horizon...

its a really tough choice. spring or fall. i like each for different reasons. but i think i like spring 1% more than fall. because fall hints at the bitter coldness that i dont enjoy. where as spring hints of the summer which means fun. well, used to maybe. anyways. my thoughts. nice to see you posting :)

Fall, hands down. The crisp air, the smells, the leaves, the faint burning wood smell that seems to permeate the air here. Sweaters and scarves and toques. Overcast skies and melancholy music make me happy

I love the smell of Fall...leaves on the ground, crisp air, and sassafras. But, Spring is such a time of renewal and awakening. Overall I think I love the change the best. The end of what was and the start of something new.

P.S. I heard the "metallurgy" twice this weekend. I still stand corrected ;)

I totally hear ya about New England in the fall. Fall is definitely my favorite season of the year and I remember being mesmerized by the brilliant colors cascading from the hills.

Hey, you interested in air soft soon? I heard Ted and Scottie are getting anxious to play.

I'm definately a lover of autumn myself. Ditto to what everyone else has said about changing colors, crackling fireplaces, scents, crunching leaves under foot, etc. It's always been my favorite, though I've never experienced it in New England. I suppose a first spring in Taejon could win me over, but I'm skeptical:)

Thanks for the facebook wall-post! It was good to hear from you. wow Thailand...I definatly live on the wrong side of the world. But I do have fun plans for Christmas. The family is going down to Disney World for about a week. My nieces and nephews are infant to 6 years old. It should be a lot of fun watching them.

Teaching is going well. We just finished 1st quarter, the grades were due today and parent teacher conferences are comming on Thursday. I miss Korea and everyone at TCIS something fierce, but I know this is right where God placed me. There is no way I would have become the teacher I am now (and hope to become) if I started at TCIS. Can't really explain it, but I am being forced to focus on teaching. I don't have a Nikole helping me plan out the weekends. She was always good at that! It is lonley, but that can only last so long. Other than that....this is life and I'm taking it one step at a time.
